The event was stated in 1994 as part of the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race when the event was for only one day at Radipole lake. Due to its popularity the event has been extended to two days and covers three sites within Weymouth, Radipole Lake for the operational and main demonstrations of Radio Controlled Model vesells; Pavilion Complex used for model related trade displays and club static displays; Pavilion Forecourt for displays of smaller models and hovercraft plus the workshop for building model tugs for youngsters this is extended to the week before the event when schools attend the Ocean Room to build these simple models; Pleasure Pier ,the site used for a round of the national Offshore Model Racing Association championships using large internal combustion engines.
How to Book Information: to participate in the festival modellers must book using a form available from W&PBC or downloaded from the SWAMBC web site
Cost: Free to the public but participating modellers have a small fee of £7
